PROOF · Real Deployments

Proven before
it was Sidel CREN.

The SRU and Novacab TESS have been running in the field for years, at real industrial sites, under other people's names. Sidel CREN is what happens when those proven technologies — plus the RPC — are brought together as one platform. Here's where they've already done the work.

Novacab TESS · Bromont, Quebec

The project that proved thermal storage could work like this.

Dr. Stephane Bilodeau's first large-scale phase-change thermal storage project ran at IBM's 800,000-square-foot semiconductor plant in Bromont, Quebec — replacing aging R-12 chillers with a 1,500-ton VFD chiller paired with two PCM thermal-storage tanks that bank latent heat instead of losing it. Published in ASHRAE Journal as "TES Without Ice" (July 2007), the project won the 2007 ASHRAE Technology Award and became the technical foundation for what Novacab TESS is today.

It became the reference project behind everything that followed: roughly 400 Novacab TESS units are now installed across hospitals, high-rises, colleges and government facilities in Canada, all descended from what was proven at Bromont.

The measured, published result

5,300 MWh/year in energy savings (about 6% annually), more than 1 MW of peak demand cut, a 45% improvement in chilled-water production efficiency, and natural free-cooling extended from 3 months a year to 9 — alongside a 50% cut in refrigerant use and a 45% reduction in GHG emissions from chilled-water production. Natural Resources Canada and Hydro-Québec co-funded it as a demonstration project. Source: ASHRAE Journal, July 2007, "TES Without Ice," Daniel Pare (IBM Canada) and Dr. Stephane Bilodeau.

SRU Flue Gas Condenser · Winemaking

Recovering heat at one of California's largest wineries.

Wineries run boilers hard year-round — fermentation temperature control, barrel and tank sanitation, and bottling all draw steam and hot water. E&J Gallo is one of Sidel Systems USA's 100+ industrial clients running the SRU flue-gas condensing economizer on that load, recovering heat — and condensed water — that would otherwise go straight up the stack.

The result

Consistent with the SRU's track record since 1978, Gallo has seen good, ongoing fuel and water savings — the same underlying economics behind the SRU stage of the Sidel CREN platform today.

SRU Flue Gas Condenser · Dairy Processing

The exact thermal profile Sidel CREN targets in dairy.

Darigold's dairy processing runs the same heat-then-cool cycle described on Sidel CREN's own dairy industry page — pasteurization, CIP, drying and refrigeration, all fed by boiler steam and hot water. Darigold has run Sidel Systems USA's SRU on that load, recovering heat before it exits the stack.

The result

Good fuel savings and recovered process water — the same value case Sidel CREN now brings to every large-dairy engagement, integrated with the RPC and Novacab TESS for sites where the full platform fits.

A note on these case studies

Sidel CREN did not exist when these projects ran — the SRU and Novacab TESS were deployed independently by Sidel Systems USA and Smart Phases Inc., the same alliance partners whose technologies now make up the Sidel CREN platform. They're included here because they're the real-world proof behind the platform, not because Sidel CREN itself delivered them.
